Carpenter Bee and Sunflowers
Cant miss them as the are about and inch and a half to two inches big. they have a loud buzz as well.
Carpenter Bee has arrived to seek food from the sunflowers at our home.
This is a big black carpenter bee, was a bit skeptical at first but it really is one.
Very scarce in most parts of the countries. first time I have seen one myself.
He became a regular visitor. Uses tunnels in wood to lay eggs.
The carpenter bee was very fast and seemed to know I was there, but he was very quick and left.

Carpenter bee almost looks to big for the flower, did get a picture with another normal bee to see its size.
Breeding
A little bit clearer a picture to see what it looks like, the carpenter bee make tunnels in wood
like cedar and redwood.
They lay eggs in the tunnel then cover it with pollen seal it of then continue laying eggs in this manner.

I was so excited to be able to capture it on our home sunflowers.
Was wondering why we only saw one of the carpenter bees, never more.
I think everybody should plant flowers and provide birds and insects with water and food as
there is so many that need it.
We also have a tiny honey bird that often comes to the sunflowers as well. But that bird is
very fast.

The Carpenter Bee dose not stay very long then flies off.
I was so excited to see these here in Vilcabamba, Loja, Ecuador. Never have we seen a carpenter bee.
But the carpenter bee was a loner and large with a huge wings and one can feel the wind it makes.
The male carpenter bee does not sting at all, only the female carpenter bee, but it seldom does.
